Incident Driven Inspections

In case of identified breaches to the Code of Conduct for Siemens suppliers Incident Driven Inspections are initiated to minimize risks in the supply chain.

An incident-driven inspection is an on-site inspection at the supplier's production site that focuses specifically on the investigation of specific breaches of the Code of Conduct.

During the inspection a nominated specialist will report on the current status of the site and where a breach of the Code of Conduct for Siemens Suppliers is confirmed, define corrective actions to meet the Siemens requirements in a sustainable manner. The implementation of these corrective actions has to start immediately and will be checked once the defined time frame for implementation has ended.

The mandated expert for subjects of the "Code of Conduct for Siemens Suppliers" is an expert of an external, certified company, who is mandated from Siemens.

The purpose of these inspections is to determine the status at the supplier's site, should

  • a strong suspicion exist concerning a breach of the requirements of the Code of Conduct for Siemens Suppliers (e.g. media reports, information from approved and reliable sources), or

  • the confirmed result of "Category red" arise from the processing of the Corporate Responsibility Self Assessment.

Should the specialist find irreparable conditions or that the proposed actions have not been implemented and/or a commitment to improvement is lacking, he or she will recommend that business with the supplier be suspended. As a last resort Siemens will terminate the purchasing contracts.
