Siemens drives structural optimization and growth orientation 

As previously announced, Siemens has informed the relevant employee representatives about the personnel adjustments planned in connection with the company’s new organizational structure. In a drive to streamline administrative and overhead functions, about 7,800 jobs are to be cut worldwide – including some 3,300 in Germany.

"Siemens Ukraine" presents results of a year of operation of a unique system for breast cancer detection at Mykolaiv clinic.

In February 2014 Siemens Ukraine installed the unique for the Ukrainian market ultrasound system Siemens ACUSON S2000 ABVS in Mykolaiv. Within a year of operation of this system more than 700 cases of benign tumors (FCM), and over 40 of malignant tumors (cancer) were detected. For the employees of the medical center a series of educational seminars from Siemens was conducted.

The  opening  ceremony  was  attended  by,  First  Deputy  of  Lviv  City  Mayor  Oleg  Syniutka, Siemens  Ukraine  acting  СEO  Denys  Drobyshev,  heads  of  the  departments,  as  well  as  the company’s partners and clients.

Siemens achieves guidance for fiscal 2014

Siemens AG reached its goals for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2014, thanks to a solid fourth quarter. Net income was €5.5 billion compared to €4.4 billion for the prior year. Total Sectors profit climbed 26 percent to €7.3 billion, fueled by strong profit improvements at Industry and Infrastructure & Cities.

Good Q3 results –  Challenges in Energy Sector

In the third quarter of fiscal 2014, Siemens posted strong results in most areas, which were affected by challenges in the Energy Sector. Net income rose to €1.4 billion, from €1.1 billion in the prior-year-period. Corresponding earnings per share increased to €1.62 year-over-year from €1.27. Total Sectors profit rose to €1.7 billion, but was held back by ongoing profitability challenges within the Energy Sector. For comparison, Total Sectors profit of €1.3 billion one year earlier had been burdened by €418 million in “Siemens 2014” charges.

“Ecotram“ research project successfully completed

As part of the “Ecotram” research project, Wiener Linien’s energy-saving tram was used on Line 62 in Vienna until the beginning ofMay. During its ten months in operation, the Ecotram collectedvaluable data on its power requirement in passenger service. Theresult: it saved up to 4,200 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy, morethan 13 percent, on heating, ventilation and air conditioning.That is roughly equal to the energy consumed annually by anaverage household in Austria.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Siemens specify proposal to Alstom

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Siemens today submitted an offer letter specifying further the proposed transaction to Alstom. With the specified offer MHI and Siemens reaffirm their commitment to strengthen Alstom as an independent Global Player in Energy and Transport. After extensive discussions with all stakeholders over the past days MHI and Siemens reviewed their proposal with regards to reducing complexity, strengthening execution and narrowing risk exposure. Based on this, MHI and Siemens decided to further simplify the structure of the proposal for the benefit of all parties involved. This resulted in an additional cash contribution of Euro 1.2 billion to Euro 8.2 billion, while the total valuation of Alstoms energy business increases by Euro 400 million to Euro 14.6 billion.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Siemens provide a compelling proposal for Alstom

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) and Siemens AG today announced that they have joined forces and provided a proposal for the French multinational conglomerate, Alstom. Pursuant to this, MHI and Siemens propose several transactions in order to preserve Alstom’s current perimeter in almost all its activities, enhance its industrial sustainability, strengthen its position as a diversified global player in energy and transport, and strengthen its financial structure, while remaining a major French listed group. The proposal is also very beneficial for Alstom employees. Furthemore it will foster job creation in France.

Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries form joint venture for metals industry

Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) want to cooperate in the field of metallurgical industry and are forming a globally operating complete provider for plants, products and services for the iron, steel and aluminum industry. Responding to the challenging market environment and high price pressure, two strong partners are bundling their individual strengths and establishing a powerful and globally well positioned joint venture. An agreement to this effect has just been signed. According to the agreement, MHI will hold a 51-percent and Siemens a 49-percent stake in the joint venture. Subject to approval of the relevant authorities, the joint venture will start operations in January 2015.

Siemens – Vision 2020

In the future, Siemens AG will position itself along the electrification, automation and digitalization. Along these value chains Siemens has identified several growth fields in which it sees its greatest long-term potential. The company is orienting its resource allocation toward these growth fields and has announced concrete measures in this direction. The measures include the purchase of the major part of Rolls-Royce’s energy business and the contribution of Siemens’ Metals Technologies into a joint venture. A public listing of the audiology business will also be prepared. In addition, Siemens is making its organization flatter and more customer-oriented. This is Siemens – Vision 2020.

Siemens prepares public listing of audiology business

As part of its realignment, Siemens AG is preparing to publicly list its audiology activities in order to give the business an opportunity to better leverage its potential outside the company. Step by step, Siemens' hearing aid activities have succeeded in capturing a strong market position in recent years. Experts predict that by 2020 the market for hearing aids will have grown by an average of four percent per year.

Siemens to acquire the Rolls-Royce Energy gas turbine and compressor business and enter into a long-term technology partnership

Siemens is acquiring the Rolls-Royce Energy aero-derivative gas turbine and compressor business and thereby strengthening its position in the growing oil and gas industry as well as in the field of decentralized power generation. The purchase price is £785 million or about €950 million. The transaction is expected to close before the end of December 2014, subject to regulatory approvals.

Siemens delivers sound start to fiscal 2014

Siemens delivered a sound quarter to start its fiscal year 2014. Supported by several major orders, new orders rose 12 percent year-over-year, while revenue development was nearly stable. "We delivered a sound quarter to start our fiscal year. As expected, market conditions were not in our favor. We continue to focus on our productivity program for the year, and on the actions we will take beyond 2014," said Siemens President and CEO Joe Kaeser.

Beijing extends its subway system

The extension of Beijing’s subway lines is making rapid progress. As for other lines in the past, Siemens will again supply the Trainguard MT automatic train control system for the Olympic Line 8 and Ring Line 10. The Chinese infrastructure operator Beijing Mass Transit Railway Construction Administration Co., Ltd. (BMTRC) has placed an order with Siemens and its local partner, China National Railway Signal & Communication Corporation (CRSC). The order is worth a total of 65 million euros. The extension project is designed to ease the burden on the traffic situation in the Chinese capital.
